ABOUT THE TRIP
Our Vintage Travelers will enjoy our second spring Play Day, as we return to the beautiful Saenger
Theatre in New Orleans, to enjoy Broadway Across America with reserved Orchestra seats for the
beloved hit musical, The Sound of Music ! We will depart from the St. Dominic Toulouse Building
parking lot in Jackson at 7:00AM this morning.
As we make our way down to the Crescent City, we will break for lunch at the always popular
Mulate’s Restaurant. Our group will enjoy your choice of delicious Cajun themed entrees with
great side dishes, bread pudding dessert and iced tea, all included in our tour today!
After lunch, we will continue to downtown New Orleans and Canal Street, where we have reserved
Orchestra seating at the beautiful Saenger Theatre, which has been thrilling audiences since 1927!
This afternoon, we will enjoy the 2:00PM Matinee performance! The Sound of Music is widely
considered one of the most beloved broadway productions in history, playing to millions across the
world since its debut in 1959. The Sound of Music is a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical
masterpiece set in 1938 Austria, following Maria, a young postulant who becomes governess to
seven children of a strict widowed naval captain. It chronicles their romance, the family's musical
awakening, and their daring escape from the Nazis. Featuring classics such as "Do-Re-Mi," "My
Favorite Things," "Edelweiss," and "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" you are sure to remember these from
the popular film adaptation starring Julie Andrews and Chrstopher Plummer. The musical is
considered one of the final, defining works of the golden age of American musical theater, and
today we will see why!
After our show concludes, we will load our bus and depart New Orleans for our return trip to
Jackson. We will make a snack stop en route, near McComb, and arrive back in Jackson by
8:30PM to end our memorable day.
